  Wildlife Conservation Project

Protect the rainforest and care for local wildlife when you volunteer with our Wildlife Conservation Project in Bolivia.

As a volunteer with our Wildlife Conservation Project, you will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience working in either the rainforest or the Santa Cruz city zoo. In the rainforest, you will be helping plant indigenous plant species, maintaining and collecting rainforest samples, and assisting in research. At the zoo, you will be taking care of animals, helping with veterinary work and assisting in the maintenance of the zoo grounds. Both projects will also give you the chance to prepare educational materials, promote local conservation efforts, and lead workshops about the projects.

Your work in Santa Cruz will help promote awareness of rainforest conservation and preserve   the wildlife species that have been displaced by rainforest destruction.

As a volunteer you will be:
Planting botanical species
Maintaining and collecting plant samples
Researching rainforest projects, promoting local awareness     about conservation
Taking care of animals, including feeding them and cleaning     their cages
Assisting veterinarians in caring for injured/sic animals (when
    possible)
Performing zoo grounds maintenance
Fundraising for the zoo and rainforest conservation  projects

No experience is necessary, but veterinary professionals are needed and welcome!

"[Volunteering in Bolivia] was one of the most fantastic experiences I have ever had. It is difficult to pick out a special experience during this time as all of it was really special, but I particularly enjoyed being able to observe veterinary procedures [at the Santa Cruz Zoo] as this is something I would really like to become more involved in.

Apart from looking after animals, I learned a lot about myself and about Bolivian culture--thanks to [the staff members] going out of their way to immerse us in the local culture and social life and setting up Spanish lessons for us. I would definitely recommend this project to others and indeed have done so."
